    Free Library of Philadelphia

    Where:
    1901 Vine St.
    Philadelphia, PA 19103
    When:
    • Tuesday May 21st 2024, 7:30pm to 9:00pm
In conversation with author and Pennsylvania State Senator, Nikil Saval

In The Hollow Parties, Daniel Schlozman and Sam Rosenfeld present a comprehensive history of the rise of American mass party politics through the Jacksonian era up through the years of Barack Obama to the presidency of Donald Trump. They posit that today’s Democrat and Republican parties, at once overbearing and ineffectual, have emerged from the interplay of multiple party traditions that reach back to the founding, and they offer a vision for how these groups might fulfill their promise.
