    About Delaware County Symphony

Delaware County Symphony (DCS) is a community orchestra of about 70 members who have been presenting classical music concerts for residents of the Delaware Valley for over 40 years. Under the leadership of DCS Music Director Joseph Caminiti and concertmaster Nina Vieru, they give four full symphony concerts and four chamber music concerts each season in the Life Center at Neumann University in Aston, Pennsylvania.

The DCS membership includes a wide range of ages and occupations, both professional and recreational musicians, all of whom volunteer their time. The Board of Directors is comprised of both orchestra members and representatives from the community.

Over the years, Delaware County Symphony has performed a widely varied repertoire of both standard and less familiar musical works, both new and old, including some world premiers. Concerts have been enriched by the performances of many guest artists, including solo instrumentalists, small ensembles, and singers.

Each year, a youth soloist, winner of an annual DCS competition, appears in concert with the orchestra. Several of these young artists have gone on to professional musical performance careers. The concert season also brings several special events, including An Evening with the Concertmaster, a recital of violin music with piano accompaniment, and talks by specialists on musical topics.
