    The Friends of Whitman Library launches its free outside public art program, The Yoga Walk, through May 31, 2021. Designed by Anne-Marie Mulgrew and Erme Maula, The Yoga Walk takes place on the outside gates of The Whitman Library, 200 Snyder Ave., Phila. PA.

     

    The public is invited to walk by, read about and try yoga poses. The Yoga Walk is for all ages and abilities and follows CDC guidelines. Ms. Mulgrew will offer free guided tours/ mini classes on Thursdays from 3pm-4pm, weather permitting. Participants are encouraged to send images of themselves doing the poses in front of the walk to enter a raffle to win a $25 gift card. Pictures can be sent to whitmanreads@gmail.com

    The Yoga Walk consists 26 laminated images featuring 16 standing poses, an introduction, a brief history of yoga, benefits of yoga and more. This interactive display includes QR codes (accessed by passersby cell phones to listen to instructions) created and designed by Erme Maula, Whitman Reading Captain and activist, text written and spoken by Anne-Marie Mulgrew, Whitman Yoga teacher and director of Anne-Marie Mulgrew and Dancers Company, and fun images from The Kids’ Yoga Deck by Annie Buckley.
