Recent oil paintings by Melissa M. Bryant: "I am interested in interludes, the space of time between one moment and the next, between the tangible and the intangible. We may easily overlook them because they are fleeting. Our lives are a collection of seemingly insignificant moments. When we are mindful, they can shape our happiness. They are respites in our chaotic and complex world. They are moments…when a child is chatting while on our lap, when the almost inconspicuous day flowers are blooming, during the subtle changes of light or weather, in the brief glimpse of a facial expression, or when an unexpected view appears around the bend. When we are attentive, we pause and allow ourselves to be mesmerized by the shapes and movement of shadows or to observe the space where solid land and ethereal sky meet."
Melissa has a Bachelor of Arts from University of Maryland in Government and Politics/International Studies. She also participated in post-graduate studies in Studio Art from several universities, subsequently receiving a second degree, a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Kutztown University of Pennsylvania with a concentration in painting. She has completed a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Graduate Studies at Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia and will continue in a Masters of Fine Arts program this fall.
