Group Exhibition
Presented by Cerulean Arts Gallery and Studio at Cerulean Arts Gallery and Studio
January 13-February 19, 2010
Cerulean Arts is pleased to present a group exhibition featuring paintings, prints and works on paper by Plamen Veltchev, Kitty Caparella, Melisa Montiel and Nikolay Milushev. The four artists collaborate and share ideas in a common studio space, but differ markedly in their backgrounds and artistic vision. Caparella incorporates handmade paper and other materials into her encaustic paintings. Layers of color bring forth ideas of space and time within her explorations of landscape imagery, calligraphy and abstraction. Montiel makes woodblock prints revolving around themes of life, death and memory, and seeks to provoke feelings of nostalgia and uneasiness in the viewer through depictions of the human figure in ambiguous situations. Veltchev and Milushev, both originally from Bulgaria, make use of social commentary in their work.
