Gruber's Journey

Gruber's Journey

Presented by Philadelphia Jewish Film Festival at Gershman Y

November 3, 2009

During World War II, Italian writer Malaparte arrives in Moldova and is afflicted with an incapacitating allergy that only Dr. Josef Gruber can treat. He fights with the Romanian authorities who try to prevent him from locating the Jewish doctor and on his own is swept up in the chaotic world of Romanian Jewish deportees. The era is seen from the other side and it is compelling. In German, Italian and Romanian with English subtitles.
