Sequence/Structure/Juxtaposition Part II: The Artist Book

In this eight week, two part course you will utilize the formats of the slideshow (Part One) and the artist book (Part Two) as strategies to build larger chains of meaning across multiple photographic images. In the second four weeks, Part Two: The Artist Book, you will distill, sharpen, and build upon the skills acquired in Part One in the creation of personal artist books. You will spend the first two weeks making maquettes, editing, and critiquing, and the second two weeks printing and binding. At the end of the course each student will have finished their own formally and conceptually dynamic artist book. Students enrolling in Part II: The Artist Book are expected to have completed Part I: The Photographic Slideshow, or to have a specific body of work to be used in creating an artist book.
