Iranian Film Series: Secret Ballot
Presented by Bryn Mawr Film Institute at Bryn Mawr Film Institute
November 4, 2009
Filmed entirely on Kish Island in the Persian Gulf, this 2001 film follows a day in the life of a female voting agent as she collects votes for the Iranian election. Director Payami uses sly tongue-and-cheek humor and minimalism to expose a small spectrum of sociopolitical stances in a very subtle manner. Winner of over ten awards, including the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival.
