Comic Catharsis: A Gift of Cartoons by William Steig
Presented by Brandywine River Museum at Brandywine River Museum January 21-March 11, 2012 Although best known today as the creator of Shrek, William Steig first achieved fame for his cartoons and covers for The New Yorker. This exhibition features over 100 cartoons and studies by Steig made over his career. Examples of his illustrations for selected children’s books will be borrowed from the Eric Carle Museum and private collections.

Magician Scott Alexander and ventriloquist John Pizzi have both appeared on America’s Got Talent. The Great Holtzie, a staple to Simon’s Day, is a Philadelphia “kid-comic” legend. Presented by Historical Society of Montgomery County at Historical Society of Montgomery County March 11, 2012 In her many letters to her husband and friends, Abigail Adams (Kim Hanley) expressed the concerns and accomplishments of an early American patriotic woman. Her most famous request was for Congress to "remember the ladies" in the creation of the Constitution of the United States. It was her clear understanding that women's influences in the domestic sphere were as integral to the development of a new nation as the more public efforts of the founding fathers.
