Merriam Theater

The University has completely restored its historic Merriam Theater. This 1,842-seat theater serves as the University's major performance hall for students in the College of Performing Arts. Both fall and spring semesters conclude with a number of performances staged by the College of Performing Arts' Dance, Music, and Theater departments. Located at 250 South Broad Street, the Merriam is also "home" to a number of regional performing arts organizations, including the Pennsylvania Ballet.

    Blind/VI Access: Touch tours are available upon request. Large print programs are available upon advance request for UArts shows only.

    Deaf/Hearing Access: Infrared assistive listening systems are available on a first come, first served basis. Occasionally performances at the Merriam are ASL interpreted for the hearing impaired in cooperation with the local organization Creative Access (see Resources). Please call ahead to request interpretation.

    Wheelchair Access: Wheelchair accessible places are available in prime orchestra level areas. Call ahead for reservations and further information. Elevator available to reach the upper levels of theatre; operator present during show times-assistance may be needed.
