James A. Michener Art Museum - Doylestown

The James A. Michener Art Museum is an independent, non-profit institution dedicated to preserving, interpreting and exhibiting the art and cultural heritage of the Bucks County, Pennsylvania region. In addition to hosting a changing schedule of exhibitions from around the country, the Museum is home to a world class collection of Pennsylvania Impressionist paintings. The Museum is completely accessible to visitors with disabilities. Touch tours, sign language interpreted tours, and interpreted materials, such as listening enhancement equipment, are all available with advance notice.

On-street parking and nearby parking lot. Parking for vehicles with a disability permit is available in a designated area on South Pine Street. Spaces are not reserved, but are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Access Information: Call Visitor Services two weeks in advance to make reservations for special tours, accessible seating or interpreted events.

Blind/VI Access: A general introduction to the permanent collection is available in Braille. Museum events and café menu information are available in large print at front desk. Touch tours and audio description available upon request.

Deaf/Hearing Access: Sign language interpreters are available with two weeks advanced notice. Captioning provided in video/movie exhibit.

Wheelchair Access: There is adequate maneuvering room for wheelchair users; two standard wheelchairs are available for public use. Assistance is available and may be needed at entrance, ramps and hallway to restrooms, phone and fountain.
Technical Specs

Visual description tours given by trained docents are available on request. Service animals for visitors with disabilities are welcome. For Visitors with Cognitive or Communication Impairments Tours are provided by trained staff and volunteers for audiences with diverse abilities. Material is presented using differentiated learning strategies with interactive activities in the galleries. Guides and docents understand the importantance of breaking-down information into smaller parts and reviewing and repeating information.
