Where the du Pont story begins in the Brandywine Valley. Original 1802 black powder mills, furnished estate, and French style gardens. More than 240-acres of history and beauty. Open 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Call for winter hours from January 2nd to March 14th. Admission.

      The American Eagle: Symbol of Freedom and Enterprise to the du Pont Family Hagley Museum and Library The American Eagle: Symbol of Freedom and Enterprise to the du Pont Family Presented by Hagley Museum and Library at Hagley Museum and Library March 10, 2012-January 1, 2013 The image of the eagle has been an important icon in the history of the du Pont family. The du Pont family came to America on the ship “American Eagle," the DuPont Company's first product was Eagle Gun Powder, and decorative arts collected by Mrs. Louise du Pont Crowninshield were adorned with eagles, a common symbolic element in Federal-style furnishings. This exhibit is on display in the du Pont family ancestral home, Eleutherian Mills. Included in regular admission and tour....

      Hagley's Civil War Summer Camp Hagley Museum and Library Hagley's Civil War Summer Camp Presented by Hagley Museum and Library at Hagley Museum and Library June 25-June 29, 2012 The War Between the States will come alive once again at Hagley! The Civil War Summer Camp will find kids drilling daily, sending signal messages, and reenacting key battle maneuvers using water balloons for ammunition. Campers will make Civil War rations, learn period dances, and march in a grand parade for their parents. A highlight will be a visit to Fort Delaware, a crucial defensive site for Wilmington.
