Silver Lake Nature Center

The Silver Lake Nature Center is part of the Bucks County Park System and is operated by the Department of Parks and Recreation. The center is located in the highly populated southern portion of Bucks County. Major highways and public transportation easily access the Center, a 235-acre complex within the Mill Creek Valley Park system. The lake is the terminus of the Mill Creek, Queen Anne Creek and the Black Ditch Creek Watershed. Because it contains the best protected Coastal Plain woodland remaining in the state, the Center is unique to Pennsylvania as well as Bucks County.

      06/03/12	Full Moon Paddle Silver Lake Nature Center Full Moon Paddle Presented by Silver Lake Nature Center at Silver Lake Nature Center June 3, 2012 As we paddle north from Silver Lake to Magnolia Lake, the sky is ablaze with oranges, pinks, purples and reds from the setting sun.  Once we land at an island, the campfire is started and marshmallow toasting begins. Surrounded by night-time sounds, we share stories of kayaking and other life adventures. Once the fire has turned to cinders, we take to the water again and paddle back by moonlight.  This adults-only paddle is rated easy.

Before we take to the water, we will demonstrate the basic paddle strokes, proper technique and boat handling skills. Once on the water, we will practice our new skills and have some time to get used to the kayaks.
