The Center offers walking tours, changing & permanent exhibitions, kids workshops, lectures, film screenings, and book talks on architecture, urban planning, and design. Exhibitions are always free; some programs have a fee associated with them. Browse our selection of unique designer gifts and books at the AIA Bookstore & Design Center, located in the Center. The Center's facilities are available to rent for private and public parties, receptions, lectures, forums, or any event you can imagine. We are also home to the Philadelphia chapter of the AIA and the Community Design Collaborative.

The exhibition reveals how the urban landscape has changed over time and the varied ways artists depict the same views. In 1981, the fourth floor of the historic Reading Building at 915 Spring Garden Street, was leased for studio space by local artists Steve Donegan and Syd Carpenter. DAG meetings are often the first place the public can learn about these projects, from proposals for casinos to plans for public parks. The mission of the Design Advocacy Group is to provide an independent and informed public voice for design quality in the architecture and physical planning of the Philadelphia region.

In Switzerland, the figure is three times higher, i.e., 6,000 watts per person, and in the U.S. the figure is currently approximately 6 times higher.
