Church of the Holy Trinity - Rittenhouse Square

The Church of the Holy Trinity, Rittenhouse Square (CHT) is an Episcopal Church situated on the Northwest corner of Rittenhouse Square. Established in 1859, CHT has a celebrated history of excellence in architecture, the arts, preaching, and service. Despite its nearly 150-year history, the church continues to be an active, vibrant, and very present participant in the Philadelphia community.

Community Highlights: Weekly Brown Bag Concerts, Philadelphia’s First Toy Library, daily ringing of the church bells
Historical Highlights: Over 20 stained glass windows--many of the windows were designed by Tiffany Studios,  The second Rector, Phillips Brooks, wrote the famous Christmas carol “Oh Little Town of Bethlehem”,  Scottish-born architect John Knotman designed and built the church in the Norman style. Much of the décor is reminiscent of the Arts and Crafts era.
