    Artist: Alexander Stirling Calder
    Installation: 1924
    Materials: bronze, granite
    Council District: 5

Created from a collaborative effort of artist Alexander Stirling Calder (1870-1945) and architect Wilson Eyre Jr. (1858-1944,) Swann Fountain was created as memorial to Dr. Wilson Cary Swann, the founder of the Philadelphia Fountain Society. Three reclining figures circle the center of the fountain and represent Philadelphia's 3 main waterways: the Delaware (a figure of a man) the Schuylkill (figure of a woman) and the Wissahickon (the figure of a girl.) The main water jet shoots up to 50 feet, while surrounding animal sculptures placed around the fountain, frogs, turtles, each shoot water towards the center.
