Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (PAFA)

Founded in 1805, the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (PAFA) is America's first school of fine arts and museum. A recipient of the 2005 National Medal of Arts presented by the President of the United States, PAFA is a recognized leader in fine arts education. Nearly every major American artist has taught, studied, or exhibited at the Academy, from the Peale Family, Thomas Eakins and Mary Cassatt, to Maxfield Parrish, Cecelia Beaux and many, many more. The institution's world-class collection of American art continues to grow and provides what only a few other art institutions in the world offer: the rare combination of an outstanding museum and an extraordinary faculty known for its commitment to students and for the stature and quality of its artistic work.

    Access Information: An accessible entrance to the Museum is located at Cherry and Burns Street. The Burns Street Elevator provides access to the Gallery Floor. Visitors can access this entrance by pushing the call button at the bottom of the front stairs of the Museum, or at the corner of Cherry and Burns; Security staff will meet the caller.

    Two weeks notice is required when making reservations for special tours, accessible seating, and interpreted events. Guided tours are available for people with physical or mental disabilities upon request.

    Blind/VI Access: Touch tours of American sculpture can be arranged with four weeks prior notice.

    Deaf/Hearing Access: Sign language interpreters for all programs and tours are available by prior arrangement. Assistive listening devices available upon request. Listening enhancement systems are available upon request. For information, call 215-972-2069 (VOICE); 215-972-6198 (TDD).

    Wheelchair Access: Wheelchairs are available free of charge, on a first-come, first-served basis. The gallery floor is accessible by elevator, and restrooms are accessible.

Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts is please to present a preview of MM2 Modern Dance Company’s newest work THREE. A collection of dances, short stories if you will, all under three minutes as choreographed by each of the company members. The performance will take place in the gallery and will be followed by an art lesson inspired by the theme of THREE. The performance and workshop is FREE for all ages.
