Hope Lodge is a historic house museum administered by the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission and the Friends of Hope Lodge and Mather Mill. Built between 1743 and 1748 by a prosperous Quaker famer, Hope Lodge remains one of the best examples of Georgian style architecture in the state. The mansion bore witness to the 1777 Whitemarsh Encampment, a six week period of the American Revolution when the Continental Army camped in the surrounding fields and front lawn after the Battle of Germantown. The mansion is furnished in two time periods, the Colonial, 1743-1770, and the Colonial Revival, 1922-1953. Hope Lodge sits on just over 43 acres of the remaining 300 original acres.Tours of the mansion and c.1790 Colonial kitchen run every Wednesday through Sunday, year round. The outside grounds and rose garden are free to the public.
