Darlington Arts Center

Darlington Arts Center is a non-profit community arts center with classes, lessons and workshops in music, art, dance, drama and fitness for all ages, serving over 4,000 students per year. The Center's annual programming includes a Coffee House Series, monthly art exhibitions, faculty recitals, master classes, outreach programs, and special events. By embracing the visual and performing arts, Darlington makes it possible to enroll more than one family member at the same time and place for classes or lessons in a variety disciplines.

02/04/12- 03/24/12	Jewelry Making for Beginners for ages 9-13 Darlington Arts Center Jewelry Making for Beginners for ages 9-13 Presented by Darlington Arts Center at Darlington Arts Center February 4-March 24, 2012 Learn techniques to make beautiful and colorful beaded wire jewelry using basic wirewrapping techniques. Each student will make their own earrings, bracelet, and personal initial necklace. Bring: small glass beads of your choice, chain nose pliers, flat nose pliers, round nose pliers, wire cutter. Projects will include metal and leather wrist bands, hammered copper pendants and personalized stamped message jewelry. Techniques covered will include stamping, forging, beading, wire wrapping and metal patinas. Tuition includes $40 materials fee which covers all copper, bronze and sterling silver used in class. Follow recall exercises to unearth significant memories and be guided in ways to artistically portray them through dramatic storytelling. 01/30/12- 03/19/12	T'ai Chi Chih for Teens and Adults at Darlington Arts Center Darlington Arts Center T'ai Chi Chih for Teens and Adults at Darlington Arts Center Presented by Darlington Arts Center at Darlington Arts Center January 30-March 19, 2012 T'ai Chi Chih is often referred to as a moving meditation. It is comprised of 19 separate moves and one pose. Each of the movements is repeated individually several times on the left and right side to promotes balance and relaxation. It is not a martial art, is completely non-violent and is practiced for its many health benefits. It is easy to learn, does not require physical fitness or coordination and movements can be adapted to be done while seated for physical limitations.

03/24/12	The Belfast Connection: Irish Coffee House Concert Darlington Arts Center The Belfast Connection: Irish Coffee House Concert Presented by Darlington Arts Center at Darlington Arts Center March 24, 2012 The Belfast Connection is a three-piece band featuring the fiddle, mandolin and upright bass. Formerly of local Irish band Paddy's Well, Belfast Connection's Frank Reed, Laine Walker and Joe Hughes infuse each performance with energy as they tell the story of Ireland and her people. It is comprised of 19 separate moves and one pose. Each of the movements is repeated individually several times on the left and right side to promotes balance and relaxation. It is not a martial art, is completely non-violent and is practiced for its many health benefits. It is easy to learn, does not require physical fitness or coordination and movements can be adapted to be done while seated for physical limitations.

It is comprised of 19 separate moves and one pose. Each of the movements is repeated individually several times on the left and right side to promote balance and relaxation. It is not a martial art, is completely non-violent, and is practiced for its many health benefits. It is easy to learn, does not require physical fitness or coordination, and its movements can be adapted to be done while seated for physical limitations.
