The Clay Studio is a non-profit educational arts organization dedicated to the promotion and development of the ceramic arts and the work of new clay artists. The Clay Studio supports the ceramic arts through its artist residencies, gallery, studio space, school, educational & outreach programs, and permanent location.

    Saturday Clay Clinics- Tilemaking The Clay Studio Saturday Clay Clinics- Tilemaking Presented by The Clay Studio at The Clay Studio May 25, 2013 Enjoy a relaxing, creative afternoon playing with slab building techniques and learn to make and decorate tiles. Led by Instructor Lauren Mabry, these fun and informative workshops are designed for those who are curious about clay or want to further their skills without the commitment of a class. Clay, tools and firing/processing are included. Bring your friends and wear clothes that you don't mind getting dirty. Pre-registration is recommended.

    06/16/13	LAWS: Local Artist Workshop Series: Large Scale Wood Fired Ceramics with Kevin Lehman The Clay Studio LAWS: Local Artist Workshop Series: Large Scale Wood Fired Ceramics with Kevin Lehman Presented by The Clay Studio at The Clay Studio June 16, 2013 Do you want to make larger pieces on the potter’s wheel? During this lively three-hour workshop Kevin will show you how, beginning with how to center more clay then you thought you could. He will demonstrate various techniques for creating large wheel thrown works as well as discuss the process of wood fired ceramics. Three vessels will be constructed on the wheel during the workshop: a classic form using thrown sections, an asymmetrical form using coils and a stacked form.
    06/24/13- 08/12/13	Ceramic Sculpture The Clay Studio Ceramic Sculpture Presented by The Clay Studio at The Clay Studio June 24-August 12, 2013 Ceramic Sculpture Instructor: Kensuke Yamada Experience Level: Intermediate/Advanced Various handbuilding techniques will be demonstrated and used in the creation of work with a focus on form, structure and surface. Advanced students will be encouraged to engage in a dialogue on the content and purpose of their work.

Narrow Experience Level: All Levels Learn to create pieces using either handbuilding, throwing, or a combination of both techniques. Instructors will guide you through a variety of methods to build, decorate, and glaze your ceramic projects. A virtual smorgasbord of ceramic techniques! Designed for all skill levels, this class is a great introduction to ceramic fundamentals.
