Serene country estate landscaped by Thomas Meehan & Sons to highlight the Colonial Revival mansion and surrounding farmland of 170 acres. Originally constructed about 1720, the mansion was redesigned and enlarged by architect Arthur Brockie in 1901 to enhance a country gentleman’s lifestyle. Fully furnished with antiques collected by former Pennsylvania Governor Samuel W. Pennypacker reflecting his interests in early Pennsylvania history, German and Dutch settlers, native Americans, the Revolutionary War and the Civil War. The collection also includes Governor Pennypacker’s political (1903 - 1907), genealogical and personal papers. Research by appointment. Activities throughout the year include exhibits, nature walks, workshops, and special events. Picnic facilities available. Large group and school tours are requested to call in advance to schedule visits. First floor of mansion and restrooms are handicap accessible.

    05/27/12	Patriotic Workshop for Kids Pennypacker Mills Patriotic Workshop for Kids Presented by Pennypacker Mills at Pennypacker Mills May 27, 2012 Join Pennypacker Mills for an afternoon of partriotic celebration and to create awesome decorations and cards to share. All materials and instructions are provided as well as refreshments. For ages 5+. Parents are asked to stay with child.
    05/15/12- 05/01/13	Call to Arms! Emergency Militia in Pennsylvania during the Gettysburg Campaign Exhibit Pennypacker Mills Call to Arms! Emergency Militia in Pennsylvania during the Gettysburg Campaign Exhibit Presented by Pennypacker Mills at Pennypacker Mills May 15, 2012-May 1, 2013 These citizen soldiers were the first forces to defend Pennsylvania from the Confederate invasion in June of 1863, and were instrumental in preventing rebels from crossing the Susquehanna River, thus saving Harrisburg from capture. The Galleries are located on the second floor of the mansion.

Presented by Pennypacker Mills at Pennypacker Mills August 21-August 24, 2012 A perfect hands-on history program for when summer camp is finished and school hasn't begun yet! Each day features a different learning experience in th 1900s History Center and is designed for elementary school children. Why not come early and have a picnic lunch in the picnic grove or on the mansion porch, which always has a gentle breeze to cool you off? The Pennypacker mansion is also open from 10 am-4 pm for free tours.

Follow his climb to the top of the toy industry as he creates one of the most beloved toy companies of all times. Call site if weather is inclement.
