    Spring Bird Migration Norristown Farm Park Spring Bird Migration Presented by Montgomery County Department of Parks and Heritage Services at Norristown Farm Park May 5-June 2, 2012 The spring migration of songbirds will be in full swing now. Join an expert birder to search the forest and fields for native birdlife. Many birds are just passing through on their way to northern breeding grounds. You will be able to see flycatchers, vireos, and warblers as well as non-migrating species. For ages 7 and up. Meet in parking lot #2.

    06/10/12	Summer Fun in the Creek Lorimer Park Summer Fun in the Creek Presented by Montgomery County Department of Parks and Heritage Services at Lorimer Park June 10, 2012 Come and explore Harper's Run and the Pennypack Creek just like you did when you were a kid. What species of fish and aquatic insects live there? We'll use seine nets and containers to catch a few specimens for identification. Everything will be released unharmed. Prepare to get wet! Wear water shoes that aren't slippery or old sneakers. No flip-flops! For adults and children ages 5 and up. Meet in the parking lot.
    06/17/12	Northern Riverine Forest Northern Riverine Forest Presented by Montgomery County Department of Parks and Heritage Services June 17, 2012 Spend the afternoon of Father's Day with dad in the forest. Today we investigate the riverine forest of the Farm Park. Learn about the indicator plants and animals of this habitat, including the American Sycamore tree and the Belted Kingfisher. We'll walk to identify other plant and animal species in the riparian zone. For adults and children ages 8 and up. Meet in parking lot #3 at the kiosk.
    06/20/12	Summer Fun - Pond Life Summer Fun - Pond Life Presented by Montgomery County Department of Parks and Heritage Services June 20, 2012 Peek through our wildlife blind and see what lives in, on, or around the pond. Use some viewers to see under water. What swims there? Play an aquatic food chain game. Learn all about life in the pond. A short uphill walk to the hidden pond is required. For ages 3 and up with an adult. Meet in parking lot #3 near the pavilions.

    06/25/12	Summer Bee Program Summer Bee Program Presented by Montgomery County Department of Parks and Heritage Services June 25, 2012 All insects are cool, but bees are especially interesting to watch. Did you know they have two types of mouthparts? Learn about bees and their importance as pollinators. Identify different kinds of bees and "imposters" (flies that look just like bees). Make a bee craft. For ages 3 and up with an adult. Meet at the pavilions.
    07/07/12	Fireflies: Nature's Fireworks Norristown Farm Park Fireflies: Nature's Fireworks Presented by Montgomery County Department of Parks and Heritage Services at Norristown Farm Park July 7, 2012 Come for an evening to discover the world of fireflies or lightning bugs (which are neither flies or bugs). Learn about their amazing behavior and life cycle. The program begins just before dusk and ends just after dusk, so bring a flashlight. For ages: 6 to adults. Pre-registration by phone is required. Meet in the pavilion parking lot.
    07/08/12	Creek Critters Norristown Farm Park Creek Critters Presented by Montgomery County Department of Parks and Heritage Services at Norristown Farm Park July 8, 2012 Come out to explore Kepner Creek. We'll collect and classify aquatic insects and use seine nets to catch fish. Wear old sneakers for going into the water or water shoes with heel straps. No rain boots please! Ages: 6 to adult. Pre-registration is required by phone. Meet in parking lot #3 by the kiosk.

    07/15/12	Butterflies and Bugs Lorimer Park Butterflies and Bugs Presented by Montgomery County Department of Parks and Heritage Services at Lorimer Park July 15, 2012 Come and explore the fascinating world of insects. We'll provide bug boxes with magnifying lenses and field guides. Learn the names and special adaptations of these amazing creatures. For ages 3-adult. Pre-registration is required. Meet by the ranger hut.
    07/22/12	River Rock Art Norristown Farm Park River Rock Art Presented by Montgomery County Department of Parks and Heritage Services at Norristown Farm Park July 22, 2012 Learn some basic geology as we walk the floodplain of Kepner Creek. Rocks that have been in water are often smooth and rounded. We'll find some to paint. Past participants have turned their stones into insects, flowers, and other neat things. Art supplies will be provided. For adults and children ages 6 and up. Pre-registration is required by phone. Meet at the pavilions.

Nearly everyone recognizes them. Come to this program and learn more about this insect. After the field activity make a ladybug craft to take home. For ages 3 and up with an adult. We'll investigate insects, fish, and birds. Expect to get wet. Old sneakers or sturdy water shoes are required. For ages 5 to adults. Pre-registration by phone is required. Meet at the Visitor's Center.

What do the fish eat? Join a knee-deep investigation of the creek. Wear sturdy water shoes or old sneakers (no rain boots or flip-flops). For adults and children ages 6 and up. Pre-registration by phone is required. Meet in the parking lot on Moredon Rd.

Dragonflies and damselflies represent an ancient order of insects that have been on earth since before the dinosaurs. Learn about their life history, territorial behavior, and how to recognize individual species. Explore the creek and the pond in search of our quarry. Bring water to drink. For adults and children ages 8 and up. Pre-registration is required. Meet in parking lot #3 near the kiosk.
