PENNaach was founded in October 1997 for the purpose of promoting South Asian culture both within and outside the University of Pennsylvania through various forms of traditional, classical, and modern dance. Dance is an integral and vital part of South Asian culture. There are innumerable distinct styles that vary across regions and time periods. Over the years, PENNaach has exhibited the vast diversity of South Asian dance. By bringing ancient traditions together with new trends, PENNaach continues to explore and innovate through South Asian dance traditions. Some of our most memorable dances have included styles such as traditional Bharatanatyam, Bollywood, Garba, Raas, Bhangra, Kathak, Yoga, Hip-Hop and Modern.
