Comment on Facebook The University City Arts League is a community based arts center that holds a wide range of arts, dance and fitness classes. It houses a pottery studio, a photography studio and an art gallery which shows the work of emerging Philadelphia artists. The Arts League has members as young as 2 and as old as 94, and offers classes for children, teens and adults. Check the official website for class information.

Spring Contemporary Modern Dance Classes

This is a class for dancers ready to experience more technique and skill development while continuing to have fun improvising and choreographing. The class will study the styles of Mary Anthony, Martha Graham, and Jose Limon. The students will also have a chance to learn the history of modern dance.

Spring Workout Classes

These fun exercise classes incorporate elements of dance, yoga and aerobics to music that makes you move. Expect a full body-mind workout that will make you feel and look healthier. The class emphasizes proper form, flexibility and strength training, balance, coordination, teamwork and cardio work to sculpt muscles, build bone density and make a healthier you. Bring a workout buddy and compare results! Wear sweats and sneakers. All levels welcome.

Spring Flamenco Classes

Students learn the fundamental elements of flamenco including footwork technique, braceo (arm and hand movements), and palmas (hand clapping technique). Castanets will be used. Class includes a warm-up, technique exercises and specific choreographic sequences. No prior experience is needed. Women's attire: long, wide skirt and leather-soled shoes with 1 1/2 inch heels. For men: leather-soled shoes or boots. Purchase of castanets ($18 to $24) will be discussed at first class.
