Wharton Esherick was a leading American sculpture artist of the early 20th century. Working mostly in wood, he was considered by some to be the most influential designer of the century. His works are found in American museums and private collections alike. Visit his studio, which he built over 40 years, and which reflects his strikingly unique artistic vision.

    Poplar Culture: The Celebration of a Tree Historic Yellow Springs Poplar Culture: The Celebration of a Tree Presented by Wharton Esherick Museum at Historic Yellow Springs May 21-June 10, 2012 The show features the work of more than 40 contemporary woodworkers honoring famed wood artist Wharton Esherick with pieces crafted from a single tulip poplar tree that stood outside the door of Esherick’s Chester County studio. Works on display vary from large pieces of furniture to small spoons; all are available for purchase during the show.
