Frank Higgins’ play with music follows the Depression-era journey of two extraordinary women, each of whom is dependent on the other to gain acceptance in society In 1935 Texas, Susannah, a Caucasian academic and song collector for the Library of Congress, visits a high-security prison where she meets Pearl, an African-American woman imprisoned for murder Hoping to record the treasure trove of spirituals and African folk songs that only Pearl knows, Susannah bargains for Pearl’s parole and arranges for several public performances The two women soon find themselves walking a delicate line between exposure and exploitation Featuring beautiful, live, a cappella renditions of little-known American folk songs, Black Pearl Sings chronicles a powerful story about being a woman in a man’s world, being Black in a White world, and fighting for one’s soul in a world where anyone can be a commodity

This acclaimed musical won 1998 Tony Awards for Best Score, Book and Orchestrations, and won both the Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards for Best Musical and Best Score Created by the award-winning composer/lyricist team of Flaherty Ahrens (Seussical, Lucky Stiff, My Favorite Year, and Once on this Island), Ragtime paints a nostalgic, powerful portrait of life in turn of the century America Based on EL Doctorow’s novel (winner of several literary awards including the National Book Critics Circle Award), the score is just as diverse as the Melting Pot of America that it seeks to recreate The music draws upon traditional folk sounds to color the haunting music and yearning lyrics of the immigrants, Vaudeville’s outrageous style to capture the spectacle of Evelyn Nesbit, and Joplin and Jazz to invoke the enlivened spirit of Harlem With a book by Terrance McNally (Kiss of the Spider Woman, Master Class), the production features such show stopping songs as “Getting Ready Rag,” “Your Daddy’s Son,” “Wheels of a Dream,” “Till We Reach That Day,” and “Make Them Hear You”

Selected by Time magazine as "The Greatest Musical of the 20th Century", Carousel relates the story of an unlikely romance between the handsome, hard-nosed carousel barker, Billy Bigelow, and the reserved but bold mill worker, Julie Jordan, against the harsh backdrop of New England in the midst of the Industrial Revolution After a passionate first encounter, the two quickly become married, although neither can muster the courage to even say "I love you" The marriage hits rough waters from the beginning Billy cannot hold down a job, mooches off Julie's cousin, hangs out with local lowlifes and, on occasion, acts out violently But when a sudden announcement presents an opportunity for redemption, Billy must decide whether to engage in one last dirty deed in order to start his life with Julie anew Filled with laughs and tears, Carousel has touched the hearts of audiences for over sixty years With its tender duets ("If I Loved You"), rousing dance numbers ("June is Bustin' Out All Over"), and inspirational ballads ("You'll Never Walk Alone"), it is easy to understand why Carousel often is touted as Rodgers & Hammerstein's finest musical score

If you come off the street, this off Broadway musical
seems just like any other wedding Instead of simply
watching a play, everyone who comes to Tony n’ Tina’s
Wedding becomes the friends and family of the bride
and groom Tony n’ Tina’s Wedding includes dinner
but is not a traditional dinner theatre performance
The very real and extremely funny wedding ceremony
happens first and is followed by the reception There is
a band, which plays songs typical of any current
wedding band The music is so energetic and
entertaining that you will not be able to get off of the
dance floor As the evening progresses the event
happens all around you You can participate by talking
and dancing with the family members who are all
actors or you can sit back and watch your friends and
other wedding guests interact with the wedding party
and guests Any way you do it, it is a wedding you don’t
want to miss!
