<p><p>Nationally acclaimed painter, Mel Leipzig will be celebrated as a Rankin Scholar in a series of Drexel University events focused on his lifelong involvement with the arts  An exhibition at Leonard Pearlstein Gallery will feature twelve portraits that showcase Mr Leipzig&rsquo;s characteristic attention to detail and unique four-color approach to observational painting in acrylic  Renowned for capturing his subjects amongst the minutia of their daily lives, Mel Leipzig investigates the unique environments of his creative contemporaries&ndash; from artists to architects, actors to family members  As a part of this special exhibition, Mel Leipzig will be on-site creating his latest work, a painting of Drexel&rsquo;s Ellen Forman Dance Studio featuring faculty and students from Drexel&rsquo;s new dance major  This is a unique opportunity to observe the artist at work as he creates this new painting prior to his exhibition  The work-in-progress will be previewed during the reception for the artist  In addition, in honor of Mel, who is a member of the Ibsen Society of America, Drexel will present Ibsen In The Afternoon: A Reading of Henrik Ibsen&rsquo;s <em>An Enemy of The People</em> &nbsp;</p></p><br />]]></description>

<p><p>Technology has taken over every aspect of life, at times this includes art Roni Cibischino takes a classic approach on her debut exhibit, Men in Pearls, A Preview No Photoshop or even digital prints included, just a good eye and some film Her photographs are part of an ongoing project analyzing and pushing the limits of gender The one subject images were skillfully shot in color For each piece the viewer must look past the obvious and delve deep between the lines to understand the symbolism and message portrayed The artist effortlessly and elegantly portrays a re-identification of gender Although a unique selection was chosen for the Park House Caf&eacute;, many more sides of gender are and will continue to be explored in the completed work The multi-faceted artist is sharing her exhibit with the greater Philadelphia area; hosting an opening on November 21 (the exhibit will run until December 19) This event is free and open to the public It is a chance to discover the work of an emerging and vastly talented young artist</p></p><br />]]></description>

<p><p>Photography by the late Karl P Slingluff portrays another side of war An avid photographer, Karl was drafted to the Korean War This retrospective of photos shows a glimpse of history that isn't usually seen Karl Slingluff shot thousands of slides while in Korea, which preserved his photos making this show possible Jonathan and Leigh Slingluff, owners of The Slingluff Gallery, have selected photos that show the talent of Karl In Karl&rsquo;s memory, The Slingluff Gallery is donating a percentage of all sales to Williamson Free School for Mechanical Trades in Media, PA, where he attended The opening reception for this show is on December 5, 2009 from 6-9 pm and runs until December 27th</p></p><br />]]></description>
