Koboku Senju
May 28, 2010
Please join Ars Nova Workshop for the US debut of Norwegian/Japanese quintet Koboku Senju, meaning "selection of dead trees." Toshimaru Nakamura is one of the most distinguished and original voices in the world of electro-acoustic improvisation, with a vast body of work built up over the past decade. Since 1998, Nakamura has been exploring the possibilities of his no-input mixing board in contexts ranging from solo to collaborations with Keith Rowe, Sachiko M, Otomo Yoshihide, Axel Dörner, Oren Ambarchi, Christian Fennesz and Annette Krebs. Tetuzi Akiyama is an experimental guitarist heavily applying free improvisation and noise, while mixing feelings of country and blues.
