Anthropologists in the Making: Summer Camp: Mesopotamian Mysteries
June 28-July 2, 2010
In 1922, archaeologist Leonard Woolley and his team uncovered the royal tombs of Ur, located in modern-day Iraq. The tomb contained Lady Puabi, a Sumerian queen of Ur, and her many attendants and treasures which were miraculously untouched by tomb raiders. Visit the exhibit Iraq’s Ancient Past: Rediscovering Ur’s Royal Cemetery to discover the forensic evidence that solved the death mystery of Lady Puabi’s attendants. Write your name in cuneiform, don a bull mask, and construct your own ziggurat. Work with new friends to recreate Lady Puabi’s death pit.
