Contemporary dance company BalletX presents four new ballets from a diverse cast of dance makers, both well-established and emerging, in a dance program filled with cutting edge choreography, beautiful bodies, breathtaking technique and passion. New York-based Thang Dao premieres One Word Play exploring “the way we use and manipulate words to construct our identity and power”; with dazzling costumes by fashion designer Calvin Tran, set to the music by Ezio Bosso. Lauren Putty takes a journey to help us reveal who we truly are in Hide, set to the songs from Radiohead, The Postal Service and Vitamin String Quartet. BalletX's co-artistic director Christine Cox celebrates Spring with ‘X’ or ‘Y,’ a lively light work set to Mozart’s score and an electro-tango ensemble. Cox also returns to the dance floor in the company premiere of Carry Me, a classic Philadelphia dance duet by Myra Bazell and Monica Favand originally premiered with Group Motion Dance Company in 1992.
