Visitors are welcomed to the Mill at Anselma for a day of Early American children’s toys, games and school activities! Chester County Historical Society will teach and entertain visitors with the same activities that Washington enjoyed as a child, from playtime games to the lessons he might have learned growing up in Colonial America. The Mill will also demonstrate how wheat and corn were ground into flour, and visitors can sample tasty treats made with the freshly stoneground flour and cornmeal.

The Mill at Anselma (c. 1747) served its local agricultural community for three centuries and is considered the most complete example of a Colonial-era custom grist mill in the United States. Now restored and recognized as a National Historic Landmark, the Mill at Anselma provides a powerful educational resource, allowing visitors to experience Chester County’s industrial and agricultural past through flour milling demonstrations, tours of the site and hands-on family activities.
