Wildflower Trip: Shenk’s Ferry Wildflower Preserve
April 21, 2010
Join Wildflower devotee, Richard Brenner, for a visit to one of the best natural wildflower preserves in the country, during its peak bloom. The preserve is located in Lancaster County in a valley overlooking the beautiful Susquehanna River. We expect to see spectacular masses of white trillium and view large numbers of both the white and yellow forms of trout lily. Many other spring ephemerals including Dutchman's breeches, squirrel corn, bleeding heart, hepatica, rue anemone, and bloodroot should abound. On the return trip, we stop for an ice cream splurge. Bring a bag lunch; beverages, snacks and transportation provided
