Join us for a day dedicated to the men and women who have fought for their country, beliefs, ideas, and futures. Reenactors from the 17th, 18th, 19th, and 20th century campaigns as well as veterans will tell the story of how residents in this region, county, state, and nation played such an important role in wars going back to the 17th century and up to the 20th century. Through a series of presentations, discussions, lectures, exhibits, and hands-on activities, visitors will learn about military and medical advancements, of personal experiences shared by Veterans, and understand how the home-front was affected during war. Additional topics will include the impacts of African Americans and Women during military eras and of the important role home gardens played in both colonial campaigns and 20th century engagements. In brief, the program will follow changes that occurred in military encampments, clothing, equipment, drills, recruitment, medicine, and domestic/home front life over the course of 300 years.
