The Philadelphia Multiple Myeloma Networking Group, Central and Northern New Jersey Support Groups along with over 500 particpants and sponsors, were pleased to have started the first annual 5K Miles for Myeloma in 2009. This family-friendly event raises funds to go toward the International Myeloma Foundation's research initiatives and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Multiple Myeloma Financial Assistance Program. With the estimate that over 20,500 new cases of multiple myeloma would be diagnosed within the United States in 2009, it is more important than ever to work together to reduce this number to zero. It only takes a small group of thoughtful, committed people to change the world.
