Film Screening: Word Is Out: Stories of Some of Our Lives
March 20, 2010
This 1978 landmark documentary features conversations with 26 gay and lesbian Americans about their lives. The film, made collaboratively by gay and lesbian filmmakers, explores experiences across generations, geography, class and race. Its intentional presentation of diverse lifestyles, communities and philosophies challenges the clichés of what it is to be gay in this country. Funny, serious and, at times, very romantic--don't miss it! 2008 marked the film's 30th anniversary and a new DVD featuring updates about the cast and crew will be out later this spring.
