The Life and Legacy of Women in Ancient Rome & America
March 1-March 31, 2010
Throughout the month of March, visitors to the National Constitution Center can learn about the women of ancient Rome and their counterparts in America, in celebration of Women’s History Month. During this 20-minute interactive show, visitors can explore the lives and legacies of women like Portia, the wife of Roman senator Marcus Brutus; Abigail Adams, the second First Lady of the United States; and Phillis Wheatley, the first African American poet to be published. The program also explores how the daily lives of women have changed over two millennia.
