Step, break, and move to the beat at Mainstage Center for the Arts’ (MCA) Step to the Rhythm, a Step Dance and Hip--Hop Workshop, March 14th at Camden County College. Ricky Whitfield, international performer, with veteran Broadway performer, Renee Chambers Liciaga, will present this invigorating workshop. The instructors will “break down” the elements of Step Dancing, a form of percussive dance in which the participant's entire body is used as an instrument to produce complex rhythms and sounds through a mixture of footsteps, spoken word, and hand claps. Elements of Breaking, Tap and Hip-Hop will be included. Participants will also learn the history and culture of Step Dancing. At the end of the workshop, participants will “Stomp” their stuff with a demonstration /performance for family and friends.
