Kantha: The Embroidered Quilts of Bengal from the Jill and Sheldon Bonovitz and the Stella Kramrisch Collections

Embroidered with motifs drawn from the rich culture of Bengal, the northeast region of the Indian Subcontinent, kanthas served as gifts lovingly stitched for weddings, births, and various celebrations. This exhibition presents some 40 examples of this vibrant domestic art created between the mid-19th and mid-20th centuries.
