Exquisite Pots features work by six potters who exchanged bisque pieces with each other, for glazing and finishing. Similar to the “exquisite corpse” game invented by the Surrealists, this exchange expands the idea of collaboration from its usual consciously cooperative mode to include the possibility for the unconscious and accidental. The resulting pots prompt us to think about the relationship between form and finish, and about what dominate our perception of a particular pot.
