     After a period of worldly pleasures, the King of Navarre decides that it's time to return home and become a serious scholar so as to better lead his people. As a consequence (and going way overboard), he and his lords pledge to do the following: eat abstemiously and fast once a week; sleep only three hours a night; and avoid the company of ladies. For three years. Inconveniently, this is exactly when the King of France decides to send his lovely daughter and her three ladies as his representatives to negotiate with Navarre. Try as they might, the men are not immune to the women's wit and beauty. And, of course, each man professes that he will be the last one to break the pledge...
