Join CAC for a morning tour and lunch at the Ladew Topiary Gardens in Monkton, Maryland, followed by an afternoon at the Baltimore Museum of Art to see the new Cézanne Exhibit. Ladew Topiary Gardens is known around the world for its topiary and flower gardens. You will begin the day by visiting the Ladew Manor House, which contains an impressive collection of antique English furniture. This will be followed by a guided tour of some of the fifteen thematic “garden rooms” created by Harvey Ladew, a self-taught gardener, on a portion of his extensive property. A boxed lunch will be served in the old, restored stable building. You will then travel to the Baltimore Museum of Art to see the special exhibit entitled “Cézanne and American Modernism,” which explores how Cézanne transformed modern art in America. The Exhibit displays stunning paintings and watercolors by the French master alongside a wide range of works by more than thirty American artists, including Hartley, Prendergast and Stieglitz. Some of the walking tour of the gardens will be on uneven ground, and may be of concern for those who are unable to walk comfortably on such terrain.
