The Family Theatre Series is an interactive, literature-based performance program for children (ages 2-7) and their caregivers. This performance will take place at Walking Fish Theatre, 2509 Frankford Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19125. The cost is a sliding fee: $1-$10, whatever you feel you can afford. Call 215-427-9255 for more information. Theme for February is “My Feelings.” The main story read this month is “Skippyjon Jones” by Judy Schachner. The Family Theatre Series features two professional actors – Gene D’Allesandro and Ren Manley bringing great children’s stories to life. The children in the audience are encouraged to participate by acting out the characters with their bodies and their voices. After the performance session, the children are invited to make a simple handicraft relating to the stories, such as paper bag puppets. Partners with B. Someday for The Family Theatre Series are the Neighborhood Parenting Program of By My Side, a non-profit parenting program active in the Fishtown neighborhood, and Hyperion Bank of 2nd & Girard. The Family Theatre Series will happen on the first Saturday of every month, until June, 2010 as part of B. Someday’s outreach into the community of Fishtown/Kensington. The fifth Family Theatre Series performance will be on Saturday, March 6 at The Walking Fish Theatre, 2509 Frankford Avenue. Each month will have its own theme. This project is supported in part by grants from the Henrietta Tower Wurts Memorial, Seybert Institution and Target.
