MUSIC

David Berkeley with Birdie Busch
January 22, 2010
There is a profound depth in David Berkeley's songs, a refreshing honesty, and an unaffected delivery which make him one of the most talented singer/songwriters today. The New York Times' Jon Pareles praised Berkeley's "lustrous, melancholy voice." He heard "shades of Tim Buckley and Nick Drake" in David's music, a comparison also made by Rollingstone.com. The music of Birdie Busch is the concise sound of a well defined personality writing in deceptively simple terms, and revealing nuanced emotions with stark phrases and novel turns of speech.
