Momigami/Paste Paper Making
June 19, 2010
Explore Momogami and paste painting, two unique techniques used for paper decoration. Momigami is the ancient Japanese technique of coating kozo paper with konnyaka paste, then crumpling and kneading, thus creating millions of wrinkles and ridges. Students will also learn 18th century paste painting, which combines the use of wheat starch, water and pigments in creating intricate patterns on paper.
