    From March to September 2009, Elizabeth Haegele (2006-2007 Curatorial Intern and 2007-2009 Assistant Education Programs Coordinator for the Scott Arboretum) walked 2,178.3 miles from Georgia to Maine along the Appalachian Trail. The Appalachian Trail is America’s first national scenic trail and traverses through 14 states, national parks, forests, and an incredible variety of landscapes from farms, to mountains, town streets, and meadows. Come hear Elizabeth share her experiences in fulfilling this lifelong dream and exploring some of the most beautiful and wild places our country has to offer. You will surely start planning your own hike after this lecture! The Lunchtime Lecture series is an informal way to share what has been seen and discovered in various gardens and natural spaces both in the United States and abroad. Bring a bag lunch and join staff and guests of the Scott Arboretum for a visual tour of their travels to beautiful places. Free and open to the public, the series is held from Noon to 1 pm in the Lang Performing Arts Center Cinema at Swarthmore College.
