Organized in conjunction with the greater Philadelphia area’s celebration of the 150th anniversary of the founding of the Philadelphia Sketch Club, this exhibition will recreate N.C. Wyeth’s 1012 exhibition held at the Sketch Club, the first in which the artist chose to display examples of this non-illustrative painting. These were views of the Chadds Ford countryside, painted in a variety of Impressionistic styles. The Brandywine River Museum’s exhibition will present a fascinating glimpse into an early phase of Wyeth’s artistic development.
