For thousand’s of years, people have celebrated the days growing longer and the nights growing shorter. For a shorter time, the Unitarian Society of Germantown has celebrated the Winter Solstice and the return of the sun from its journey south. Encircled by stately trees behind the church at 6511 Lincoln Drive, the celebrants sing, dance and cheer the journey of the burning wheel. The celebration begins at 6 pm on Sunday, December 20, followed by a potluck dinner. All who celebrate the return of the sun are invited to attend.
