What’s better than one of the world’s top Celtic fiddlers? How about two, who also happened to be married. Cape Breton superstar Natalie MacMaster is a fiddling, singing, and step-dancing fireball on stage, performing jigs and reels with unstoppable, foot-tapping energy. Her husband, Donnell Leahy, the oldest sibling in the musical Leahy family from rural Ontario, is no slouch either as fiddler or step-dancer. The pair will share the stage with their Celtic band, and you’ll be on your feet before you know it! Time for Three (Tf3 for short) is a charismatic string trio which transcends traditional classification, weaving elements of classical, country, western, gypsy, and jazz idioms into their own unique blend, one which knows no boundaries. The trio was born in Philadelphia, where the three Curtis Institute graduates—violinists Zach De Pue and Nick Kendall and double-bassist Ranaan Meyer—discovered that improvising, composing, and arranging was a lot more fun than playing with an orchestra.
