This Brazilian film, renowned for its soundtrack by bossa nova legend Antonio Carlos Jobim, sets the Greek Orpheus myth in the midst of Rio de Janeiro’s Carnival festivities. This screening coincides with the Opera Company of Philadelphia’s June production of Orphée & Eurydice by Christoph Willibald Gluck. Part of Bryn Mawr Film Institute's Opera Lovers Film Series, presented in conjunction with the Opera Company of Philadelphia.
