Rare Prints and the Art of Printmaking
March 4, 2010
In association with the Philadelphia art festival Philagrafika 2010: The Graphic Unconscious, the Academy will open its world-renowned collection of historic books, prints and artworks for a rare and intimate public tour. Senior Fellow and Curator of Art and Artifacts Robert Peck will narrate highlights of the Ewell Sale Stewart Library’s holdings, which include some 200,000 volumes, some dating back to the 1500s. Peck, who has published extensively on the convergence of science and art, will also offer historic anecdotes and insight into print-making techniques.
